We have finally reached the point in Wisconsin where the afternoons are warming up and the days are getting a little longer. Our pups have been cooped up all winter—and maybe your walks are getting a little longer. I am always looking for places to take my dog, Coco, for an adventure. While many patios in Milwaukee and surrounding areas allow dogs, some go the extra mile to accommodate your favorite pet. Also, consider that many area parks will be opening their seasonal Biergartens, which usually allow dogs. Here we’ve ranked our favorites in bones, with five bones being the best for our beloved furry friends.

Hounds and Tap
This is the ultimate dog experience. With indoor and outdoor play areas, Hounds and Tap goes all out. Check out their website for fun events like “Doga” Yoga with Dogs and “Paint your Dog.” The bar offers a large selection of beer and canned cocktails, as well as a rotating calendar of food trucks. The staff are always available to corral the dogs, and kiddie pools are filled to keep your pup cool when the weather gets warm.

Ope! Brewing Co.
I was excited to find a place that allows dogs both inside the brewery and outside on the huge patio. Ope! Brewing Co. has a calendar filled with trivia nights, live music, bingo, and volleyball leagues. This dog-friendly venue is a great space for dogs to socialize. Become a member and receive discounts on beers, access to early releases, and invites to member-only events.

Lion’s Tail Brewing Co.
With 15 beers on tap and a huge outdoor patio, Lion’s Tail Brewing Co. is the perfect place to walk to with your pup. You can scan the QR code on the table to place a food order for Sendik’s, check out the rotating food truck, or even bring in your own food. Wauwatosa’s walkability makes taking your dog on adventures easy.

Smoke Shack
Whether you’re frequenting for the pulled pork or the HUGE selection of bourbon, Smoke Shack is a Third Ward favorite. If you’re afraid of commitment, order one of the sampler platters and try a bit of everything. Although the patio is on the smaller side, they offer Pups & Pints, which, according to Coco, is the best dog-friendly happy hour. Afterward, stroll around the Third Ward, which has lots of other dog-friendly patios.
