The story of the Dupee family is a homecoming of sorts — times two! Both Wisconsin natives, husband and wife duo Steve and Sarah Dupee met in college, married, moved to San Diego, and then relocated to the Milwaukee area, settling in Wauwatosa. They welcomed four children, now ages 10 to 18 years old, and lived in three homes throughout Tosa before returning to Southern California in 2018. Lucky for us (and all who know them!), the Dupees are moving back to Wauwatosa this December and chose our team to assist them with the challenge that is navigating a cross-country move in an ever-challenging real estate market. We asked Sarah to share some insight into what ultimately lured them back to Wauwatosa, what she is looking forward to most about their new chapter, and her favorite spots to frequent in the area.

What lured you back to Wauwatosa?
“Ultimately, it’s that our hearts have never left,” says Sarah. “It’s the down-to-earth, beautiful people, sidewalks, great neighborhood schools, locally owned restaurants, the tight-knit community, and a great location — both close to Milwaukee and not far from Chicago. It’s the friends and family we have remained close with despite the distance, the sports teams we follow, and the live music access in the summer.”

What are your favorite spots to frequent in the area?
“We are excited to explore new places that have popped up since we left, but we also can’t wait to listen to music at The Landing at Hoyt Park with friends, watch games at Leff’s Lucky Town, and walk through the Village enjoying the lights that were hung after we left,” says Sarah. Other favorites, she adds, including Colectivo, Lalli’s Pizza, North Avenue Grill, Bel Air Cantina, Ristorante Bartolotta, Cafe Hollander, Il Mito, and Yo Mama’s.

A cross-country move is obviously a big step! What are you most excited about with the transition?
“We are so excited to have a home that is once again ours,” Sarah says. “We have been renting, which has worked wonderfully in Manhattan Beach, but to create a home that represents our family is something that I have missed a lot. I cannot wait to host family and friends once again. I’m excited to be closer to our aging parents, to sit with close friends on a random day and catch up, to see the fall leaves turn and the spring flowers bloom, watch my children enjoy the snow, and to be surrounded by love.”

Can you tell us a bit about your experience working with our team?
“We have worked with Corey in purchasing our last three homes, and I’d quickly do it again, although I’m secretly hoping we don’t have to for a very, very long time! Corey took the time to really listen to what we were looking for in both selling and buying our homes,” says Sarah. “She is patient and shared valuable feedback, which helped us appreciate the beauty in each home currently along with the potential it held.”
