Nearly 40 years ago, a series of significant life events—including a growing brood, which would soon include four daughters, and a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis—led Wauwatosa native Sue Frost and her husband, Tom, to move into a spacious Cape Cod on the Menomonee River Parkway. The home’s selling point, says Sue, was the backyard pool. “We thought it would be a good way (for me) to exercise,” she recalls. “And, it would be easier for us to do a lot of our vacations right at home.”

The backyard quickly became a neighborhood oasis. “We’d have neighbors over all the time,” recalls Sue. “I’d open the pool in the afternoon, and kids were supposed to come with a parent to watch them.” Kids flowed in and out of their yard and home, a tradition that occurred every summer, with the exception of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. “It was a great way to raise kids,” she adds, “and a great place to be with people.”

As the Frosts’ daughters reached adulthood and they soon welcomed in-laws (and 11 grandchildren!) into their fold, the core memories and traditions that formed the fabric of their beloved home lived on. “Everybody had to come to our house on Christmas morning,” says Sue, her voice filled with pride. “They could go to other relatives’ any other time or on any other holiday, but I wanted them for Christmas morning.”

Last spring, however, marked the end of an incredibly beautiful and joyful era for Tom and Sue. The pair retained Double Boldt Real Estate several years ago, knowing the sale of their home was on the horizon, and spent the years that followed updating various spaces in preparation for it to sell. The Cape Cod hit the market in April, and was quickly purchased by the Juzenas family, whose matriarch, Erin, is also the owner of one of Wauwatosa’s most-loved small businesses, Shop Privy. “My family is honored to have been given the opportunity to purchase Sue’s lovely home on the Parkway, which we will cherish for many years to come,” says Erin. “It’s a special home filled with love, memories, and character, and we are excited to carry on that love with our children and make it our own. A big thanks to Sue and her family for choosing us!”

Tom and Sue have since happily relocated to a retirement home in Greendale, where they enjoy the various activities the facility has to offer, but still consider Wauwatosa their home.
