Heather Mitchell and Jon Blechman, the duo behind neighborhood wine shop Pipsqueak Wine, share their 8 favorite spots in MKE.

Birch Restaurant. For its seasonality, its beautiful food and wine list, and gracious hospitality.

Wy’east Pizza. We’re pizza fanatics; no one is making better pizzas than Ann and her team.

Vennture.  Great coffee and service, a Pete’s Pop for the boy, and a great brew for everyone else — a neighborhood canteen done right.

Bavette. Such a sophisticated restaurant, and for a place known for its butchery, it has such excellent salads and veg dishes. Lovely wine list, as well.

Bread House. A bit of a haul for us, but worth the trip — great Middle Eastern food and all sorts of fresh baked flatbreads.

Sze Chuan. A trip to West Allis for Sze Chuan is always worthwhile. Stick with the Sze Chuan dishes and you get authentic fiery deliciousness. The Asian Market at the other end of the strip is definitely worth a visit, as well.

Voyager. When in Bay View, Voyager has such a great vibe, fun drinks, and an interesting selection of wines by the glass and the bottle.

Nonfiction. Another Bay View fave. It’s a grand space, and has thoughtful small plates and a great selection of natural wines.
