The holiday season is rather short this year, as Thanksgiving occurred later, so our approach to holiday decorating is simple — to keep it simple! Read on for our go-to products, tips and tricks.
● Go green! There are few things more festive than a plethora of greenery placed throughout your home during the winter months, and our favorite is Crate and Barrel’s Cypress garland. It’s available in multiple lengths, is easy to hang, and can be used year after year. For added volume, place dried magnolia leaves throughout the needles.
● Burn a holiday scent. One of the easiest ways to turn your home into a festive respite is to light one of your favorite winter scents. Our go-to is Brooklyn Candle Company’s Balsam Noir Candle or Thymes’ Frasier Fir scent. For those hoping to shop locally, both Sendik’s stores and Mooi in Tosa often stock a variety of Thymes products.
● Put a bow on it! We are loving this simple yet elegant trend — and it’s so easy to re-create at home. Simply tie a bow using velvet or satin ribbon, and add it to a picture frame, candlestick, or wall sconce for a playful touch. We’re drawn to moodier tones this year, and this velvet brown ribbon is a perennial favorite.
● Add a tree or two. Or more! You may have noticed that bottle brush trees have made a resounding return in recent years, and we are here for it. They’re sold at nearly every big box retailer, and their versatility is unrivaled. Add a few taller trees to your mantle or built-in shelves, or place smaller trees in a festive bowl on your coffee table. The possibilities are endless.
